June 29, 2004 I have to admit being in the lab today reminded me on why I decided not to do any type of work in a laboratory setting. I figured that out after working in a DEP lab in college. I guess I just do not have the patience required to sit behind a microscope or computer all day. I met several lab technicians, undergraduate, and graduate students today. Funny thing, I actually felt old around them. They are working on several different projects. I helped out with prepping shark jaws and sandbar shark skin for the Project Shark Awareness program. I met with Cathy Bester, the Education Coordinator, and she told me the jaws are to be given to teachers along with other items to share with their students. Project Shark Awareness is an outreach program created to educate the public about the myths and realities of shark biology, behavior, and conservation. I said sign me up! Return to Journals Index |
