August 23, 2005 As it turned out, we began running the transect, but the weather was so severe (high winds, big swells) that the ADCP was turning sideways in the water and giving readings that were unusable. So rather than smash the instruments and bash against the waves for several more hours we headed back and got to shore about 4:00 am. The weather forecast looked worse for the next twenty-four hours so we had an easy day in the lab. |
