Journals 2006/2007Kate Baugher
August 15, 2007 The crew and scientists began to unload equipment and samples from the boat about 8:00 am. I toured around the University of Miami oceanic campus for about one hour. Libby had invited me across the street to tour the NOAA labs. It was a very interesting tour. I saw the chemistry labs first. Libby then told me that her offices had approved of her flying to Oklahoma to make a presentation at our school! Wow!! Then Chris showed me the labs where he identified zooplankton - very cool. I returned to the Walton Smith and the captain gave me a t-shirt. I gave him an ARMADA Project hat. I learned so much from this trip and had such a wonderful time. I hope I can adequately share this experience with my students and colleagues. This has been a unique and magnificent experience. I couldn't be happier! |
