A slow day

I am up at 9 am. I head to Ihrma's for breakfast but no one is up because they were out all night. I give Ihrma photos, she is intrigued by the world map which shows the paths of all recorded Atlantic hurricanes. Amazing they all start from this very island. They pick up strength as they wander into the Carribean and the east coast of the US.

In this map you can see that most Atlantic hurricanes begin their journey from the Island of Maio. It is thought that detection of infrasound from hurricanes may yield clues to their formation. View full version pop-up.

I walk way out to the beach. It is endless with no one around I look for shells but find only crushed remnants. I lay down and fall asleep. The sky is overcast from the storm and the horizon is full of clouds. In the distance I can see the island of San Vincent. I will be there in a few days.

The island of San Vincent is in the distance.

A typical scene on Maio.
The beaches are completely empty and seemingly go on forever.

The economy once supported harvesting salt, the mounds still remain.

At the hotel I do some work then head to Paulo's for dinner. This is all "old hat" now and I am ready for a change. It is definitely time to head home. I hear stories of people being stuck here for a week or more. I do hope the plane is running. Tomorrow is a school day.
