Journals 2006/2007Mike Lampert
October 17, 2006 I spent the day at the beach, the plane is leaving tomorrow. I met the guys for lunch, fish and veggies. I wander the town a bit and unfortunately find myself back in the hotel dismal and sick. I finally get what others have told me about the stomach flu from drinking the water here. I regret now eating an unwashed apple. Most people peel the outer parts of the fruits to be safe. And right before I leave on a long journey back. I have dinner with the guys, they give me thanks, and I tell them how grateful I am. The Italian there, Antonio, loves to drink and shoves grogue (I think it is pure ethanol) on you every time he has an excuse. "oh you are leaving, more grogue!" Or "oh you are done with the meal, more grogue!" I make the mistake of insulting him by drinking water instead. I walk across the street and say good bye to everyone. There are many sincere warm hugs. |
