July 11, 2008 The day started with a briefing on the bridge. We discussed how we were going to retrieve the mooring. Quite a few things were similar to the sediment trap retrieval. What was different was that it was 40 degrees, rainy, and windy. I was cold. I did not expect to spend three hours on the fantail straight. The good news is that the mooring team was able to successfully retrieve and re-deploy the mooring. The funny thing is that when we got the mooring on deck, it did not have the cap on it anymore. They guys said they expected that. It is possible that it came off on the way down or when being towed back to us. The team just couldn't risk not knowing if the equipment was storing data for a year or not. |
