July 28, 2008 We are starting to wrap things up onboard. Pat and I spent some time taking apart the spar and buoys from the sediment trap. Of course we picked a cold foggy wet day to do it. It was said but at the same time I am glad we are not deploying the trap anymore. I am looking forward to going home. Pat discussed with me that he was excited with the last trap deployment results. The thorium levels were low at the surface, rose steadily until the 100-meter point where they dropped again. He is looking forward to analyzing the data to see what made the results such. We are still taking thorium samples so that setup is operational. Pat has taught me well. I can run that experiment for him if he needed me to, however Pat is a professional. Even though he as taught me well enough to run the experiment, he believes it is still his job to do it. What I was able to convince him to do, was let me do it with him present at all times. It made the time go by faster anyway. |
