We did another early morning deployment for mooring #6 around 1:30 in the morning. I learned how to splice rope today. The components of the moorings are all connected by rope. It is strong, will not corrode, and is easy to work with. We are using 16mm polyethylene rope with a breaking strength of 4200 kg. If we get to a site and find the depth is different than thought, the rope can easily be cut and respliced. Check out the following web sites for instructions on how to splice rope yourself.
