II. DAY THREE: Friday, July 9, 2004 This morning I had a meeting at which safety requirements for the research lab would be covered. The procedures are important for the protection of all who work in science labs especially when working with dangerous chemicals. After the training I returned to the lab. The sun was beginning to peek through the trees and I was happy the weather was clearing. I worked with the video transects for the rest of the day. I'm feeling a lot more confident, my observation skills are improving with practice. After dinner the weather was picture perfect so I stopped to pick some wild flowers. The little bouquet made my cabin more homey. I'm hoping to press them and save them forever. I spent the evening in the library. The library at the center was formerly the horse barn. It is a rustic wooden building with exposed beams and a soft musty scent. It is fully equipped with books, periodicals and computers. I spent my time doing research on weather stations, a project I'm planning for the upcoming school year. Return to Journals Index |
