July 17, 2006 Before I begin my research I need to take a safety course. Here I am at the safety training workshop. I forgot my camera, so no pictures. The North Slope (where I'm going) can be a pretty dangerous place. Some safety issues that were covered in the workshop included; exposure to cold, potential for explosion or fire, presence of wildlife (like hungry polar bears), traveling on ice and water, and dealing with wind exposure. This workshop pointed out the best ways to stay safe. If you don't take chances you're a lot safer. |
