Another Pressing Day

Brenda and Katrin have put aside numerous specimens that need pressing. Before I begin pressing the new specimens I have to remove yesterday's specimens from the press. To do this you open the press and carefully remove the cheesecloth from the specimens. In a few of the papers the specimens have come loose. On this you apply a little glue and stick the specimens back down. The finished specimens are stacked between blotters with wax paper over them.

Before I start pressing the next set of algae, Ken asks me to help him measure kelp. He measures, I record.

Ken, Brenda, and Katrin are going diving to the measure the biomass of several sites. Ken asks me to record the kelp data into the computer while he is gone. Once I finish recording the kelp data, I return to pressing algae specimens. I finish around 4:00pm.

It is another beautiful day, sunny, temperature in the high sixties. Susan and I decide to take a walk.

We get back just as Ken, Brenda, and Katrin return from their dive. We head off to dinner.
