Journals 2007/2008Christine Kirch
June 24, 2007 The hotel had a nice continental breakfast. A couple from Switzerland, who had lived in the states, chatted with me while we ate. I regrouped and headed to the "Fish Market" which is the tourist area of Bergen. I shopped for the obligatory souvenirs. Norway is very expensive, one USD equals 6 Krone. However, I found a shop that had everything at 70% off as it was going out of business, my coup! I ate lunch at the fish market and people watched. I wandered a bit more. In the park there was a woman sitting on the ground feeding pigeons and gulls. There were crawling all over her, yuck! I retired to my hotel room to read for the rest of the afternoon. At 5:15 pm I walked down to the bus station to go to Elinor's in Minde for supper. I could have sworn at this point that I was in some sort of a Harry Potter movie. I found the bus number but I was sure there were more platforms yesterday. Oh well, I made it to her house. We were able to eat outside again and enjoy the nice weather. Her son David showed us pictures of his recent trip to Europe that were very interesting. After Elinor took me back to the hotel as tomorrow will be the big day! |
