August 3, 2007 Location: Hudson Strait What an incredibly busy day! There are many, many water samples to be filtered. STN 352 Rosette cast around 4 AM just off Ellen Head, the northern tip of Labrador. We are transecting the Hudson Strait. STN 354 8:30 AM in the middle of Hudson Strait, rosette cast, more water samples-icebergs are quite numerous through here. STN 356 Just off Resolution Island, yet another rosette cast and water samples. There are numerous seabirds following the ship as we travel across the strait. In the lab filtering the samples almost all day long. I love running samples upstairs to store in the refrigerator because I am able to glimpse the sea and the sky, our lab is a bit like a dungeon - no window! In between taking samples and filtering, Greg showed me the Engine Room. There is a clean water intake line down there that we can get samples from at any time of day or night. Yeah, more water! |
