Journals 2007/2008Caitlin Munroe
August 4, 2007 Up at 5AM to get a sample from the Engine Room. Filtering for much of the day. We are stopped just off Salluit-we are picking up folks from the Inuit Health Survey who will be working with people from Sanikilluaq in the Belcher Islands, and another scientist from University of Manitoba who is primarily interested in fresh water input into Hudson Bay. We're also losing a few people here: Peggy Curran and John Kenney from the Montreal Gazette are leaving us here-they've been a lot of fun and will be missed! (www.montrealgazette.com for articles and photos). It is a bit grey and misty, the village hazy and indistinct. Many people are at the barge ramp to say goodbye to Peggy and John-their questions and photo snapping have been a welcome part of the journey so far. |
