Portland or Bust, Travel to Portland

Today, I took a leisurely 8 hour drive to southeast Maine. I arrived in Portland around 7:00 pm to meet with my research scientist, Dr. Karen Wilson with the University of Southern Maine. We discussed the options for the week and I got a tour of the research labs in the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. The space is very impressive.

Maine is one of the most picturesque states in the United States. It has miles of wetlands, lakes and coastal coves. It is famous for its wild blueberries, L.L. Bean and Old Town canoes. Lobsters and moose are common to see. Where else can you buy moose teeth earrings?

I am ready for the challenge. I will be living at six different locations while working in Maine for two weeks and will have to find various field sites. My car GPS is invaluable. It reminds me of the Amazing Race reality show. Am I ready???
