This was our original departure date but we were delayed in port due to a faulty boiler. While this may not seem like a big deal, the boiler is used to heat our water and, almost more importantly, turn seawater into freshwater for cooking, drinking and bathing. We were re-scheduled to leave the following day so most of the crew went into Kodiak. I took a small tour of the Coast Guard Base that we were docked at and then went with a group of hikers to Kodiak's North End Park. We hiked the whole trail, and part of it that wasn't technically on the trail. What a beautiful creation Alaska is!
