Fair Winds and Following Seas Today is spent steaming home which is thankfully North. Hurricane Charlie is sending 20 knot winds out of the south and 5-8 foot waves. The RV Cape Henlopen has a gentle rhythm on the Atlantic as we pass the north end of the Outer Banks, mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and Eastern Shore. The Oceanographers are busy crunching data to create maps of the temperature and salinity driven currents we surveyed. I spend time on deck watching the waves play with each other as the Shearwaters glide above them. Return to Journals Index |
