Shark

SHARK! Last night while the ship was on station coring a six-foot white tip shark showed up to check us out. Took a couple passes at a pinger hanging over the side of the boat. One of the crew members went to the kitchen and got some fish to feed it. The shark looked plenty healthy to me and it probably did not need the meal but it allowed us to see it more. Beautiful. It spent most of the evening showing up occasionally, apparently looking for anything that might fall overboard (scientist?). Seas are calm this morning as we move on to the next site. Site five should be close to the location we begin to turn south and enter cooler climates. Captain advises the seas should be rougher as we enter the southern areas. Lab activity continues as the scientists on board continue to analyze the hundred of samples collected so far.
