Journals 2006/2007Bill Griffith
January 25, 2007 What does anyone do when the party is over and you are driving home? It is pretty much the same on a research vessel. Scientist and crew members are talking about what they will do when they get home and packing as quickly as possible. You can feel that there has been a change in all. Before and during the cruise all were discussing sites and samples collected. There was a "science" mode on board. Now, it is quiet. Most are reflecting on personal issues such as family, friends, and homecoming. I am no different. Although there are plans for New Zealand, including filming penguins, my thoughts are of home and family. It is hard to think about new horizons when you have been away from those closest too you for over 6 weeks. |
