Calm Seas

Seas calmer. The ship has arrived at first coring location. Coring has begun on site 1. Five coring runs have been scheduled and labs are being prepared. I went on shift at 1200hrs. Several cores samples have been delivered to the lab and processing had begun. Each core sample (5cm) was first pressed to remove all water. The water collected from the cores would be processed for many chemical profiles including hydrogen, methane, chlorine, oxygen, and other. Microbiologist on board are working on different samples and recording microbial details. Twelve-hour workday present cores, running titrations, and checking for methane on gas chromatograph. MY FEET HURT!
